Kanon & Kotone Yokoyama


The twin sisters Kanon and Kotone Yokoyama were born in Kyoto, Japan. In 2021, they graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Solo Piano from the Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts in Kyoto. Since 2019, they have also performed as a piano duo and won numerous awards, including first prize in the "Piano Four Hands" category at the 1st International Johann Wilhelm Wilms Piano Competition in 2022, and two first prizes in the "Two Pianos" and "Piano Four Hands" categories at the 32nd Roma International Piano Competition in 2023. They were also awarded the Hindemith Prize at the International Interpretation Competition for Banned Music.

Their first CD, "Allegro Brillante," was released in 2024 on the KNS Classical label.

In 2025, they were awarded the Bruno Frey Prize in Ochsenhausen.

 They perform regularly in concerts, including the 19th Johann Wilhelm Wilms Baptismal Concert in Witzhelden (2023), the Lions Club Stuttgart benefit concert (2023), the "Rising Stars on the New Grand Piano" series in Müllheim (2025), and in Marbach, the city of Schiller (2025).

Since 2021, they have been studying at the Stuttgart State University of Music and Performing Arts with Professor Hans-Peter Stenzl. They graduated with distinction from the Master's program in 2024 and have since continued their studies in the concert exam program for piano chamber music.

They were recipients of the Germany Scholarship and, starting in 2025, are scholarship holders of Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now. They also perform regularly every month at Live Music Now.
